About Jason Hairston
After his tragic passing in 2018, KUIU founder Jason Hairston was diagnosed with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), a degenerative brain disease caused by repeated hits to the head. Hairston’s brain trauma was sustained over many years on the football field.Brain injuries are invisible— but they have real consequences. The Concussion Legacy Foundation exists to ensure that fewer lives like Jason’s are changed by the long-term effects of brain trauma.
